Healthy Hair & Scalp with Dr. Linda Amerson
TIP # 1
How often do you clean your combs and hair brushes? As often as you shampoo your hair, weekly or every two weeks, you should also make comb and hair brush cleaning a routine.
An easy way to do this, is to remove all hair from your combs and hair brushes, put them in your washing machine with hot, soapy, clorox water, for 30 mins., then rinse them and allow to dry. Using dirty combs and hair brushes on your clean hair and scalp defeats your purpose. Think about It!
TIP # 2
Blow Drying Hair:
When you shampoo and blow dry your hair at home, DO NOT use the hottest setting on your blow dryer. If you do this on a consistant basis, you are over-drying your hair contributing to excessively dry, brittle hair. It is healthier for your hair if you allow it to air dry for a few minutes, then sit under a hooded hair dryer if you have one. Also, do not pull on your hair when drying it, be very gentle with your hair.
TIP # 3
Natural Fingernails Reveal Nutritional Deficiencies: Your natural fingernail can reveal if you have anemia, poor blood circulation, protein deficiencies, alopecia areata disorder, poor nutritional absorption, trauma, medications and many other deficiencies. If you wear sculpted fingernails, it is wise to give your nail beds a rest annually for at least1-2 months before having sculptured nail re-applied.
